High Dynamic Range Photos!

Hey everyone! I got some more HDR photos to show and my first night HDR shot! Since I made my first attempt to do HDR I have fallen in love with HDR photography. I have been randomly shooting and processing more of them since my last HDR post. I want to continue to use HDR in all areas of my photography, mainly just for fun! Let me know what you guys think?

My first HDR night shot was for a group project in Art Direction last quarter. I didn’t think I would get any stars in sky because I was so close to the bright city lights. I was wrong and it was a nice surprise. The second one was not used in the project but I really enjoyed the full night view of the wonderful Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

For that same project, I had the help of another photographer Kristyna Nielsen. She took this photo while I did the HDR processing. I like this shot and the final composition that was produced, so I felt obligated to share it. Thanks Kristyna and if you would like to see more of her work? Check her out at www.kristynanielsen.com

Thanks for checking them out!

Molly and Jimmy Doran

Wow! I have quite an awesome story… My friend and co-worker, Molly, asked me over a year ago to photograph her wedding and engagement photos. Of course, I said yes but was curious as to who her fiancĂ© was because I never met him and have only heard a little bit about him at work. Her fiancĂ©, now husband, is Jimmy Doran. The reason I never met him is because he is from England! Molly and Jimmy met while Molly was studying abroad. I had the opportunity to meet Jimmy when I photographed their engagement photos. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and after meeting his family I could clearly see why, they are the exact same way. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to meet and photograph such a special a day. It was an unforgettable, fun and exciting day that ended with plenty of drinks and a whole lot of dancing.

The whole day when I was talking with Jimmy, he seemed very calm, however, there was one thing he was absolutely nervous about, giving his speech. It turns out that in England it is a tradition for the groom to give a long speech, so much that all the grooms’ men bet on the running time of it. Jimmy nailed the speech clocking in at 27minutes long… 3 minutes short of the ceremony time.

Molly and Jimmy I wish you two the best over in England. Also, thank you to both the Doran and Perrenoud Family for letting me be a part of this great day and amazing story!

Bittersweet

As some of you know, I recently applied for the Vikings head photographer position but, unfortunately, did not get the position. Overall, it was a great experience and networking opportunity! I met a great contact that in the end, got me down on the field for the Vikings’ final preseason battle against the Denver Broncos and a chance to photograph my first NFL game from the sidelines. Hopefully I will be able to get down there for some regular season games! Anyways… here are some of my favorite photos from Thursday’s game! Enjoy!
