A Chip and A Chair
Hey everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying 2010. It has been forever since I made my last post, MY BAD. But I have been busy and should have posts to come in the next month, so keep checking it out. The good news is I turned in my First 36x24 inch print yesterday of this photo, “A Chip and A Chair”. I am sure you have heard that quote before, but have no idea where it came from. Well I was in the same boat about a month ago when I was inspired by this quote and I based my Tableau project for my Digital Darkroom Class on it. Tableau Vivant is French for "living picture." The term describes a striking group of suitably costumed actors or artist's models, carefully posed and often theatrically lit. The Quote comes from a guy named Jack “Treetop” Strauss who was down to his final chip in the 1982 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and two days later he turned that one $500 chip into $500,000 and became the 1982 WSOP Champ. If you think that is crazy read the second link (I posted some links about Treetop under the photo if you would like to read more about him). This project was a lot work, but a lot of fun. Last but not least I would like to say thanks to Dan, Jake, Hendo, Statz, and Grego for being my 1980’s poker players and of course Jack Treetop for an awesome story.
